The Washington Post Company Names Andrew Jacobson Director of New Business Development for Professional Information Services
Since August 1990 he has been chief operating officer and president of BRP Publications, Inc., a publisher of newsletters and electronic information services, and a producer of telecom conferences.
In his new position, Jacobson will have responsibility for developing The Washington Post Company's professional information business through formats such as newsletters and other targeted media, both print and electronic.
In making the announcement, Alan G. Spoon, president of The Washington Post Company, said: "As part of his responsibilities, Andy will explore a range of ways in which we can provide further reporting for those interested in Washington affairs. We hope to round out our editorial products, which now extend from the mass offerings and audience of The Washington Post to the targeted professional information services of Legi-Slate."
Spoon added that Jacobson also will be looking at opportunities to expand the company's news and information services for professional and industry markets.
Jacobson joined BRP as publisher of Telecommunications Reports in 1989. From 1985 to 1989 he was associate publisher and director of special projects of Telecom Publishing Group, Capital Publications, Inc. Earlier he was a founder/partner and co-publisher of Dawson-Butwick Publishers. He also has served as a reporter, writer, editor or publisher of various newsletters, magazines and newspapers.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Newsletter Publishers Association.
Jacobson graduated magna cum laude from Duke University, where he received a B.A. degree in public policy studies. He is married and has two children. The Jacobson family lives in Potomac, MD.
