The Washington Post Company Will Webcast Shareholders Day On November 10, 2000

WASHINGTON - The Washington Post Company (NYSE:WPO) said it will provide a live webcast of its Shareholders Day on November 10, 2000.

Shareholders Day is being held to give shareowners an opportunity to learn more about three of the company's rapidly changing divisions; presentations will be made by the senior managers of Cable ONE, Kaplan, and Washingtpost.Newsweek Interactive. In addition, a brief overview of The Washington Post Company will be given by chairman and chief executive officer Donald E. Graham. The company's management also will respond to questions.

Attendance at Shareholders Day is restricted to Washington Post Company shareowners who have indicated their plans to attend by November 6, 2000.

Shareholders Day presentations will begin on November 10 at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Those who wish to hear the live webcast, or any portion of it, should allow 15 minutes to access the home page of the company's web site, washpostco.com, and click on the Shareholders Day link. The webcast will be available in RealAudio or Windows Media.

The webcast will be available on washpostco.com until approximately November 20, when it will be replaced on the site by a complete transcript of the presentations and questions and answers.
