The Washington Post Company Completes Acquisition of WCPX-TV in Orlando

WASHINGTON -- The Washington Post Company announced
today it has completed the trade with Meredith Corporation of the
assets of WFSB-TV, the CBS affiliate in Hartford, CT, for the assets
of WCPX-TV, the CBS affiliate in Orlando, FL, plus $60 million in
cash. The agreement for the exchange was announced on June 2,
1997.
Post-Newsweek Stations now owns and operates six network-affiliated VHF television stations: WDIV-TV, the NBC affiliate in Detroit; KPRC-TV, the NBC affiliate in Houston; WPLG-TV, the ABC affiliate in Miami; WCPX-TV, the CBS affiliate in Orlando; KSAT-TV, the ABC affiliate in San Antonio; and WJXT-TV, the CBS affiliate in Jacksonville.
