The Washington Post Company Completes Acquisition of Cable System from Time Warner Cable

WASHINGTON -- The Washington Post Company announced today that Cable One, Inc., a subsidiary, has closed on the acquisition of the Anniston, AL, cable television system from the Time Warner Entertainment-Advance/Newhouse Partnership.

The Anniston system serves approximately 36,000 subscribers.

"This acquisition furthers our strategy to operate in mid-sized, non-urban markets," said Alan G. Spoon, president, The Washington Post Company.

The Washington Post Company is a diversified media organization whose principal operations include newspaper and magazine publishing, broadcasting, and cable television systems. The company also produces electronic information services, provides test preparation, education and career services, and offers online information covering federal and state legislative and regulatory activities. Cable One now serves approximately 686,000 subscribers in 18 states.
