The Washington Post Company Acquires a Cable System in Columbus, Mississippi

WASHINGTON -- The Washington Post Company said today that Post-Newsweek Cable, a subsidiary, has acquired Columbus Television Cable Corp., a cable system serving approximately 15,700 subscribers in Columbus, Mississippi. The purchase price of approximately $23 million consisted of cash and share of non-convertible, redeemable preferred stock of The Washington Post Company.
Post-Newsweek Cable now serves approximately 554,700 subscribers in 16 states.
