Pinkie Dent-Kannon Elected Assistant Treasurer, Matthew Seelye Elected Assistant Controller of The Washington Post Company

WASHINGTON - The Washington Post Company (NYSE: WPO) announced today that Pinkie Dent-Kannon has been elected assistant treasurer and Matthew C. Seelye has been elected assistant controller.

Ms. Dent-Kannon joined The Washington Post Company as cash manager in February 1998. She was assistant vice president and trust officer at NationsBank Trust Company, N.A., from 1990 until 1998. Earlier she was a sales associate at Prudential Securities, Inc.

Ms. Dent-Kannon received a B.A. degree from Trinity College in Washington. She is married to Sanchez A. Kannon.

Matthew C. Seelye joined The Washington Post Company in December 1997 as director of corporate accounting. From 1995 to 1997 he was manager at Price Waterhouse LLP, which he joined as a staff accountant in 1990.

Mr. Seelye received a bachelor of business administration degree from James Madison University. He and his wife, Kara, have two children.
