WASHINGTON -- The Washington Post Company announced today that Dan Lynch has been elected treasurer. Mr. Lynch, who joined the company in October 1996, was assistant treasurer.

From 1977 to 1996, Mr. Lynch worked for Mobil Corporation, where he was a manager in the corporate treasurer's office.

Mr. Lynch, 44, graduated magna cum laude from The College of the Holy Cross with a B.S. in mathematics and French. He received an M.B.A. in finance and accounting from the Columbia University School of Business.

He is married to Andrea Koren. They have one daughter.
