Marcel A. Snyman, vice president and chief accounting officer, joined Graham Holdings Company (then The Washington Post Company) in July 2008 as director of accounting policy. Previously, he served as the controller and assistant controller. Snyman, a certified public accountant and chartered accountant, began his career with KPMG South Africa in 1997, before moving to the United States in 2003, where he worked for Deloitte & Touche LLP as a senior manager in McLean, VA before joining the Company.
Snyman received his MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his undergraduate degree in accounting and auditing, cum laude, from the University of Pretoria (South Africa). He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and Financial Executives International (FEI), where he serves as an alternate member on the Committee on Corporate Reporting (CCR).
